Hey! I'm back again, and this time, I'll be writing about Civil Rights! https://www.usconstitution.net/dream.html

Related imageMartin Luther King's speech, "I have a dream", truly shows that the U.S. back then shouldn't judge on people just cause of their colors. He believed that everyone should have freedom and equal rights, no matter what race you are. Martin Luther King had been preaching about dreams since 1960, when he gave a speech to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People called "The Negro and the American Dream". This speech discusses the gap between the American dream and reality, saying that overt white supremacists have violated the dream and that "our federal govt. has also scarred the dream through its apathy and hypocrisy. He then spoke of the Civil Rights Movements and "dream" of equality and freedom of the American Dream. I strongly agree that Martin Luther did an amazing job speaking of races, freedom, and an equal rights that everyone should have equally.

Welcome, once again!

This time, I will be talking about how we, the United States, helped Cuba gained their own independence from Spain in 1898. We assisted in war to protect our business and our citizens who are in Cuba. This war was called and known as "Spanish-American" war. The United States watched with interest as Cuba struggled for independence. Though, most of the fighting took place in Cuba, the first major battle was NOT fought here! It was fought half way around the world in Manila, Philippines! Manila is located in the Philippine Islands, which back then, of course was ruled by Spain. U.S. fleet, led by Commodore Dewey also defeated the Spanish there. Then, Theodore Roosevelt went to Cuba to help Cuba in war. Until now, U.S. and Cuba have a good relationship between these 2 countries!

Welcome Back! It's Civil War time!

As you all know, the theme that I picked is 'freedom' and I'll be applying this to the Civil War period.
One of our President, Abraham Lincoln, brought America new birth of freedom, and during the war, he began the nation's efforts to come to terms with the destruction of slavery and define the meaning of freedom. This Link will access you more information about slavery and freedom!
